Hungary’s Biggest Cactus Garden
Zoltán Sinkó mason has built a 170m2 cactus garden in Fejér County, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu says.
Zoltán lives in a small village, Seregélyes. He began collecting cacti 8 years ago, when he got a 2metres tall one. He made a glass house for it and bought 50 more small ones. He visited fairs and exhibitions at home and abroad as well. Currently, he has between 800 and 1000 pieces cacti.
According to szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu, among the plants there are 35 types, which are perennials and the others must be taken into the garage or the attic in order to overwinter. He begins it in September and it lasts one and a half months before he finishes it. He begins taking them out in February and finishes it in May. He does this in addition to his civil work. Zoltán plans the places of the plants precisely. During the year, he has not too much work with them, the rain is watering the cacti, so he is rather dealing with planting new ones. He has plants for sale in various types and sizes.
The cactus garden is spreading by word of mouth, but he say it to the people too. He receives about 50 visitors monthly, usually on the weekends. There is no entry ticket, but he expects to buy something, when someone visits the garden. He would like to agree with some travel agencies to bring tourist for him. He could earn lots of money with a 1000 Ft –price ticket. However, it remains to be seen, Zoltán rather thinks of the garden as a hobby than a source of money-making. His aim is to get more reputations. For sure: the cactus garden is not just in Hungary, but also internationally unparalleled.
