Hungary’s biggest e-vehicle charging station inaugurated

NKM Mobilitas has inaugurated the country’s biggest electric vehicle charging station in Sormás, in western Hungary, near the M7 motorway.

The facility cost tens of millions of forints to complete and has the capacity to charge nine vehicles simultaneously.

Managing director of the unit of national utilities holding company NKM, Szabolcs Balogh, said the company now operates 87 electric charging points across the country and plans to open a further ten-plus in the coming months, mostly close to motorways.

Hungary’s government winded up a subsidy programme for the purchase of electric vehicles at the end of August, but replaced it with another, this one with simplified conditions, in October.
