Official: State of emergency extended by another half a year in Hungary
The state of emergency is once again extended by half a year in Hungary. This means that the government has the right to rule by decree. The justification is that the war is not yet over in the neighbouring country. The special situation will certainly last until November.
The government has extended the state of emergency imposed due to the war in the neighbouring country for another six months, until 25 November 2023, according to the latest Hungarian Gazette.
According to the text of the decree, in order to avert a humanitarian disaster and because of the war itself, Parliament authorised the government to extend the state of emergency for a further 180 days, i.e. for half a year.
Therefore, there will be a government by decree in Hungary at least until the end of November. The text of the decree was signed by President of the Republic Katalin Novák and János Latorcai, Vice-President of the National Assembly.
