Hungarian FM harshly criticises Polish government: ‘It is trying to block peace talks’

The leaders of the Polish government—the prime minister and the foreign minister—have once again revealed their true colors, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday. While trampling on the rule of law in Poland—something Brussels elites seem to tolerate—they take it upon themselves to lecture us on what is in Europe’s best interest, he wrote.

Péter Szijjártó added, “According to them, the war must continue, while we believe in peace. They support bloodshed and destruction, while we advocate for establishing peace.” He pointed out that there is now a real opportunity to achieve peace, as Donald Trump’s efforts in this direction could be successful.

“It is unfortunate that the Polish government—along with the rest of the Brussels elite—is trying to obstruct peace negotiations. This Brussels approach is precisely what isolates the European Union. The vast majority of the world—led by the United States, with Hungary among them—wants peace, yet the 26 EU member states, including Poland, voted on Thursday to continue the war. What a shame…” Szijjártó wrote.

  1. It’s very clear there are powerful interests at play in the West that want to prolong the war at all costs. Their motivation is not anyone’s security, let alone doing what’s ethical and moral.

I’m just surprised the Ukrainian people have not revolted yet. Surely they can see by now that they’re being used as canon fodder.

    • Just a thought – perhaps Ukraine is more important to Ukrainians than it is to the Russians, and the potential cost of surrender — the destruction of Ukrainian identity, democracy, and liberty — is unacceptable to the vast majority of the country’s population?

Perhaps you can answer this question: why is You-Know-Who continuing this multi-year “special military operation”, despite the immense cost to his country in men and equipment? What are his ambitions? The worst thing to ever happen was the collapse of the Soviet Union … Piece from 2014 – judge by yourself how this has aged: https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2014/mar/06/john-bolton/did-vladimir-putin-call-breakup-ussr-greatest-geop/

Re the Nefarious Poles – does Mr. Szijjártós summary conclusion include Mr. Duda? He has been quite outspoken on Ukraine, and let’s say he does not echo Kremlin talking points (as opposed to our Politicians).

And regarding “lecturing”: Why don’t the 449 million Europeans just listen to the representatives of a country representing 9.5 million people? This is not counting the war mongers UK (68 million) and potential Turkey (85 million) – who would also need convincing. “Stupid foreigners!”.

  2. Russia is in a low level war with Europe whether you realize it or not and Orban is working to disarm Europe so that Russia can succeed. Putin has transformed Russia into a war economy that will be used to launch wars against other front-line states – the Baltics, Poland and Finland in particular if their defences are not quickly stengthened. It is so serious that all of these states are now abandoing land mine and cluster munitions treaties to enable themselves to provide the best possible defence. We will soon see land mines sown en masse along NATO’s eastern frontier. In addition to his hybrid warfare inside the EU involving sabotage, assassination, and disinformation, Putin stationed nuclear weapons in Belarus which is not the act of someone who seeks peace. Success in Ukraine and failure to prepare our defences will be the green light for Putin to go against the rest of Europe and now Trump is making statements about abandoning NATO’s Article 5 giving Putin a historic chance for Russia to expand into Europe when Europe is at its’ weakest. We all better take this very very seriously because Putin for years has made statements about regaining what Russia lost with the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact.

  3. Davos Globalists are cashing in, Von der Leyen gets to kiss Zelensky. Why should people not support death and destruction of Ukraine when it is so profitable for arms manufacturers?
