The Hungarian government accepted the initiative: a national consultation is coming

On Wednesday morning, Viktor Orbán’s Facebook page revealed that the government was having a meeting. Most of the decisions will be announced at the government briefing, which starts tomorrow at 11.30 AM. However, the prime minister has already announced one on his social media page.

“The government has been in session since this morning, and we are focusing on energy prices. Energy sanctions were imposed by Brussels on member states and since then, energy prices have been sky high,” he began his announcement.

He said that when this happened, Brussels promised that sanctions would end the war in Ukraine and would hurt the aggressor more than the EU member states. Instead, Orbán said, today all European countries pay a sanctions surcharge for energy.

“At its meeting today, the government adopted the Fidesz Group’s initiative to launch a national consultation on the sanction. I ask everyone to give their opinion, because only through joint action can we put an end to rising energy prices,” he said in the video.
