The newly introduced website collects and updates all the actual rules on border crossings in the countries of the European Union.

The European Union and its Member States are preparing for the secure reopening of Europe’s internal borders. According to the website, reopen.europa.eu, protecting the population is still a priority; however, they would like everyone to be able to enjoy their holiday, reunite with family and friends, or travel for other related purposes.

This interactive tool provides information that anyone can use to organise their trip and holiday in Europe without fear of risking their health and safety. The data is continuously updated and is available in 24 languages.

Taking the newly reopened Cyprus as an example, the following rules can be read:

From an EU country or Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein, may I enter or exit this country for tourism? YES, WITH LIMITATION To: 20-06-2020

Cyprus is allowing entry from two sets of countries of origin, according to epidemiological criteria.
As of 20th June, persons flying from Category A countries face no restrictions; people travelling from Category B countries are required to have a PCR test done at the source country, 72 hours before their arrival. Travel from countries which are not present in either of the two categories is allowed only in exceptional cases, and after receiving prior approval by the Cyprus government. This is also the case for transit travel via these countries.

As turizmus.com reports, it is important to mention that creators of the website are continually working to improve the user experience and also note that the information on the site is not complete.

They are based on the most recent, publicly available and credible data collected from national sources provided by the EU Member States.

While the European Commission intends to provide up-to-date information, it does not assume any responsibility for the completeness or accuracy of the information contained on this site or for making individual decisions based on it. Certified translators will review the published content in the upcoming days.
