Budapest, June 2 (MTI) – Illegal migrants held in a detention centre in Kiskunhalas, in southern Hungary, continued their protest on Thursday.
Similar to the previous day, the detainees chanted “freedom”, demanding to be transferred to an open camp and for their asylum applications to speeded up, public television M1 reported.
M1 reported the “atrocities” started two days ago when a fight broke out and an Afghan detainee bit off part of an ear of another inmate.
On Wednesday, some 300 migrants out of 500 at the facility supported a petition complaining about their confinement and demanding faster procedures. A detainee encouraged fellow protesters to set off on a march to Budapest, but police were able to restore order at the camp, local police said on their website.
