Hungary’s PM Viktor Orbán denounced for anti-Muslim rhetoric
Hungary’s leader, Viktor Orbán, was denounced in Bosnia for anti-Muslim rhetoric. Statements made by Zoltán Kovács, Secretary of State for International Communication, were judged as well.
Bosnian officials and religious leaders have condemned the statements made by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Zoltán Kovács, the Secretary of State for International Communication, wrote Telex.
The two Hungarian politicians expressed that it would be a challenge to integrate Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union. The reason for this challenge is the large Muslim population, they said.
Aljazeera wrote that Zoltán Kovács, Secretary of State for International Communication, wrote a tweet in which he expressed that “the challenge with Bosnia is how to integrate a country with 2 million Muslims.”

At the government briefing, Viktor Orbán talked about supporting Bosnia’s EU bid: though he also said that he supports Bosnia’s EU bid, he mentioned some migration-related viewpoints as well.
“I am doing my best to convince Europe’s great leaders that the Balkans may be further away from them than from Hungary, but how we manage the security of a state in which 2 million Muslims live is a key issue for their security too,” he said.
As Aljazeera wrote, the statement was met with severe judgement. Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic, the head of the Islamic community, called the Hungarian prime minister’s statement “xenophobic and racist”.

“If such ideologies become the basis on which the policies of a united Europe are based, then it takes us back to the times when the European unity was to be built on similar fascist, Nazi, violent and genocidal ideologies that led to the Holocaust and other horrific crimes,” Al Jazeera quoted him.
Sefik Dzaferovic called Orbán’s statement “shameful and rude”.
AP wrote that he said that “it is not a challenge for the EU to integrate 2 million (Bosnian) Muslims because we are an indigenous European people who have always lived here and we are Europeans.”
The anti-migrant ideology is a key aspect of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s narrative. His politics and views on this are well-known, as the theme often appears in his political communication.

Why would anyone condemn Muslims? First, before commending or condemning any group, there has to be some contact. A group’s behavior should be monitored. After careful study, one is entitled to express an opinion. Hungary has experienced contact with the Muslim groups. In 1500s the Ottoman Empire invaded Hungary and stayed for 160 years. In 2015 another group mainly from the Middle-East forced their way into the country and created chaos where ever they went. Since many Middle-Eastern people settled in Wester Europe, the crime rate is up, 50% + not gainfully employed. Once in the EU, the migrant decide where they want to live, instead of applying for permits, they decide to show up, breaking laws. Hungary has also observed the treatment of Serbs in Bosnia.
Therefore, after studying the behavior of the migrants in the EU and Bosnia, Prime Minister Orban is highly qualified to make a statement.
I think that Orban has once again been misinterpreted by people who are against him.
@Maria Von Thersea, The problem is that Bosniaks are culturally European. They are not like Muslims from Syria or Iraq that are culturally different. Thus, Orban should be denounced for the rhetoric.
Secondly, it is true that some Muslims under the Ottoman Empire (its state religion was Islam) did invade and try to colonize Hungary. However, it was not the Muslims from Bosnia and Albania that are to be blamed as they also suffered from the Ottoman Empire which had occupied large parts of the Balkans. Thus, many converts to Islam in Bosnia can be contributed to the imperialism of the Ottoman Empire.
Thirdly, while I agree that the poor lack of integration from migrants can be seen in the increase of crime and terrorism in Western European countries and that Hungary has the right to defend its border. Bosnia also is suffering from the mass migration. Bosnia and Hungary should be working together and not against one another.
Therefore, the recent remarks from Hungary on Bosnia makes no sense.
Remeber what happend to Turkey, trying to get themselves to be oart of the E. U, were denied frim similiar reasons… Since then it became top provider for many terror groups such as Muslim Brothers, Hammas, Isis an more…. Plus their economy is in free fall down while Erdugan was quoted that he will not increase interest to help econony because it’s against Islam laws….. Well that’s logic
Who cares what happened 100s of years ago- it was’t long ago that area was shredded with horrible violence –
Many friend’s and family against friends and family.
In the US you have 6% the population responsible for 50% of the crime and violence. The media rarely mention it but let one cop shoot one and the country explodes in violence for much of the year and they insist it’s a racist country. The most successful minorities in the world are in the US from the same 12% of both men and women blacks. There are more Muslims in the world than there are people in the west. Much of Europe has already decided it fate.

@TM “Who cares what happened 100s of years ago- it was’t long ago that area was shredded with horrible violence.”
Well apparently a lot of academics and journalists in the US love to bring up the past especially when it comes to social justice. Since you are a fan of the US, you don’t have the right to judge Hungary especially with the current human rights violation it has committed.
Back to the main point, in this context, it was the Ottoman Empire that was trying to colonize Hungary and the Balkan. It was an imperial power.
However, like I mention in my previous comment, it was wrong for the Hungarian government to be concern about integrating Bosnia as a EU member. Bosnia is culturally and historically European.
Thus the fear mongering of the Hungarian government is wrong. Both Hungary and Bosnia were victims of the Ottoman Empire. While Hungary itself has the right to secure its borders, especially considering its history. It should be working with Bosnia and not against it.
Dear Realist: Prime Minister Orban has the right to his views. It may not be yours, mine or correct, but he does have the right to express his views. Hungary and Serbia are friendly nations. It is normal for Hungary to side with a friend.
All peace treaties where the US and EU representatives participated ended up in failure. The ethnic Serbs that are attached to Bosnia have the right to their own country or join Serbia.
Hungary’s most recent contact with Muslim population was in 2015 when migrants attacked the border. To this date, migrants, instead of applying for entry at the Consulate in Serbia, still rather break laws by entering illegally. No one want law breakers settled, even temporarily in their country.
@MariaVonTheresa
“Hungary’s most recent contact with Muslim population was in 2015 when migrants attacked the border.”
Yes, and that is why I agree that Hungary was right to protect its borders. However, those Muslims were not from Bosnia.
Bosnia is culturally (many Bosnians will drink alcohol) and historically (it is located in Europe) European. Since Orban is so keen on protecting European heritage then he should have not made such idiotic comment and realize that Bosnia is part of Europe. Bosnians aren’t just some Muslims unlike the asylum seekers.
The rhetoric by Orban is what led to such tragedies in Srebrenica.
Again, Hungary should be commended for protecting its border and standing up against pressure from EU officials. However, Orban should also.be denounced for its comments against Bosnia.
Islam is not just a religion, it is a way of life! Islam demands complete submission of its believers. Henceforth, islam is incompatible with European culture, values, attitudes, etc. A good example of this incompatibility is the ethnic cleansing that took place in the Bosnian war. We shall certainly see a repeat of this ethnic cleansing and genocide due to the influx of muslims into Europe as a result of the open borders policy of the marxist EU leadership. Bosnian muslims will be more than happy to fight against non muslim Europeans, aligned with the hordes of their muslim brothers that have invaded Europe from Africa and Asia, the same as they had fought against the judeo-christian Serbs and Croats. You can dance around these facts as much as you like, but facts are facts and religious and cultural war and ethnic cleansing is what’s coming in European lands, whether you like it, or not!!!
@RGNRK
.”Islam is not just a religion, it is a way of life! Islam demands complete submission of its believers. Henceforth, islam is incompatible with European culture, values, attitudes, etc.”
Ironic that you say that, since Christianity demanded submission. We can look at the Baltic Crusades where pagans in Lithuania were demanded to convert to Christianity.
You talk about European values, but if that is the case. Why did the pagans in Lithuania have to go to ECHR to force the government to give them recognition as a religion when they were the original habitants/believers of Europe?
Don’t get me wrong, I am not a fan of either Christianity or Islam. Don’t be making excuses for the tragedies that have happened.
