London, May 23 (MTI) – President János Áder met Speaker of the House of Lords Frances D’Souza and Lord Mayor Jeffrey Evans on the first day of his visit to London on Monday.
Áder travelled for a three-day visit to the UK to attend a series of events held in honour of Saint Thomas Becket (1118-1170).
Before the start of the events, Áder visited D’Souza in her office in parliament. After the short meeting, he visited Evans for lunch in Mansion House.
On Monday evening, Áder attended a ceremony to mark the arrival to the UK of relics held in Esztergom and a mass to be celebrated by Cardinal Péter Erdő at Westminster Cathedral. The mass attended by Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, and representatives of the British government and intellectual and art life.
On Tuesday, Áder is scheduled to meet Prime Minister David Cameron in Downing Street.
