Hungary donates over 3 million euros to Middle East Christians
Budapest (MTI) – The Hungarian government will help Christian communities in the Middle East with a donation of over one billion forints (EUR 3.2m) to assist them stay in their homelands, according to a government decree published in Monday’s official Hungarian Gazette (Magyar Közlöny).
According to the decree, the assistance will also cover families of other persecuted religions or ethnicity.
Concerning details of the donation, the decree said that 580 million forints would be allocated to rebuild homes in Iraq, and 620 million forints would be used to support the humanitarian work carried out by Catholic and Orthodox Christian charities in Lebanon.
