Hungary’s long-awaited beach and spa season is officially getting underway this Pentecost weekend, with forecasts predicting summer-like temperatures of around 30°C nationwide. Thanks to the warm weather, dozens of outdoor baths, thermal spas and water parks are reopening across the country, giving locals and tourists alike an early taste of summer.
According to thermal bath portal Termálfürdő.hu, nearly 50 beaches and outdoor spa complexes will be operating during the holiday weekend, with many of Hungary’s most famous spa towns joining the seasonal reopening.
Budapest and nearby water parks reopen
In Budapest, the popular Palatinus Strand is gradually reopening its seasonal facilities. Visitors can already use the Margaréta pool, the outdoor children’s pool, as well as the year-round swimming and thermal pools. More pools will open on 30 May, while the famous wave pool and slides are scheduled to launch from 13 June.
The capital’s residents can also enjoy the outdoor pools at Aquaworld Resort Budapest, where adult tickets cost HUF 8,500 on weekdays and HUF 11,500 on weekends and peak periods. (1 EUR = 358 HUF)
Meanwhile, just outside Budapest, Aquaréna will reopen this weekend. The water adventure park is currently operating on weekends only, with full daily opening planned from 20 June onward.
Additional nearby thermal baths reopening include the Gödi Termálfürdő and the Leányfalui Termálfürdő.
Famous Hungarian spa towns prepare for the season
One of Hungary’s best-known spa destinations, Zalakarosi Fürdő, has already reopened several outdoor pools, including the medicinal garden, sports pool and the so-called III pool. The children’s world, paddling pools and family slide park opened on Friday, while the adrenaline slide park will welcome guests from 12 June. The wave pool and additional outdoor pools are expected to open on 19 June.
At Gyulai Várfürdő, visitors can already use the outdoor 50-metre swimming pool. The outdoor water playground for children opens on 23 May, while the slide pool and wave pool will become available later in June.
Hungary’s largest spa complex, Hungarospa, has also opened its outdoor beach section. However, the Aquapark and Premium Zone will only begin welcoming guests from 15 June.
Outdoor baths reopen across Hungary
The Pentecost reopening wave is not limited to tourist hotspots. Outdoor baths are also reopening in several county capitals and regional cities, including:
- Békéscsaba
- Miskolc, including the Selyemrét Beach
- Szeged, where both Partfürdő and Sziksósfürdő are reopening
- Szolnok
- Sárvár
- Harkány
Many baths are launching in phases, meaning some attractions, slides or wave pools may only become available later in the season.
With sunshine and heat finally arriving after a cooler-than-usual May, the Pentecost weekend is expected to mark the true beginning of Hungary’s 2026 summer beach season.
