Hungary’s natural gas stores sufficient to cover needs
Hungarian reservoirs for natural gas currently store 4.3 billion cubic meters, which comfortably covers the country’s annual needs, the daily Világgazdaság wrote on Wednesday.
Two companies store natural gas in Hungary, Magyar Földgáztároló and MMBF, the daily noted.
Universal services supplied 3.45 billion cubic meters to households in 2016, while overall supply came to 3.87 billion cubic meters in the same year, the daily said.
Magyar Földgáztároló has reservoirs in Pusztaederics in the west, Kardoskút and Zsana in the south and Hajdúszoboszló in the east of the country.
Their total capacity is 4.43 billion cubic meters and these are 61 percent full, the daily said.
They also store Gazprom gas to serve Hungarian users in case of a spike in demand in the winter, the daily said.
