The final week of August will begin with moderately warm, pleasant summer weather, with daytime temperatures around 30°C and refreshing mornings. However, the heatwave will return in the second half of the week. Showers and thunderstorms may occur in several parts of Hungary on Tuesday, but most of the week is expected to be sunny and dry, according to a forecast from HungaroMet Zrt. sent to MTI on Sunday.

The beginning of the week

On Monday, cloudier areas will gradually clear and become more broken, followed by plenty of sunshine alongside high and developing cumulus clouds. The northern parts of the country may remain cloudier at times, with a chance of light rain or showers. Northerly winds may occasionally produce stronger gusts. Daytime temperatures will generally range from 26 to 32°C.

On Tuesday, cloud cover will increase significantly from the south-west and west. Showers and thunderstorms may occur in several parts of Transdanubia, with rain potentially spreading further east from the evening onwards. Southerly and south-easterly winds will occasionally strengthen in Transdanubia, while easterly and north-easterly winds will pick up elsewhere. Temperatures will rise from 9–19°C in the early morning to 26–33°C in the afternoon.

Wednesday and Thursday

By Wednesday morning, patches of fog and low cloud may form in western and south-western Hungary. Once these clear, sunny weather is expected across the country, with only a few cumulus and high clouds. A few showers may still occur in the morning, but no further rainfall is expected later in the day. Winds will generally remain moderate. Morning temperatures will range from 11 to 21°C, while afternoon highs will reach 27–32°C.

Thursday will be mostly clear and sunny, with only a few high and cumulus clouds and no rainfall expected. Winds will turn south-easterly and southerly and strengthen. Overnight lows will range from 9 to 19°C, while afternoon temperatures will reach 29–34°C.

The weekend

Friday is expected to be sunny with only a few clouds. No rain is expected during the day, although showers and thunderstorms may develop overnight in northern and north-western areas. South-westerly and southerly winds will strengthen across much of the country. Temperatures will range from 14–22°C in the morning to a scorching 32–38°C in the afternoon.

On Saturday, cloud cover will temporarily increase significantly, with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely. Winds will turn north-westerly and may become strong across large parts of the country. Early morning temperatures will range from 18 to 24°C, while afternoon highs will generally reach 28–34°C.

Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with no significant rainfall. North-westerly winds may bring occasional stronger gusts. Temperatures will range from 11–19°C in the morning to 25–30°C in the afternoon, according to HungaroMet (met.hu).
