Budapest (MTI) – A tax officer was stabbed to death while his partner was seriously injured in southeast Budapest on Monday.
According to a joint statement from the economy ministry and tax authority NAV, the two officers were doing their job when they were attacked. Ambulance staff were unable to save the life of one of the officers, while the other was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Police detained the perpetrator. The 35-year old suspect is reported to have been a psychiatric patient earlier. According to public television M1, the officers are believed to have contacted him in connection with tax arrears.
