His name is Roland, and he never misses his target. He is one of the best snipers in Hungary taking part in the protection of the Hungarian president and his family as a member of the presidential guards.

According to Blikk.hu, who managed to get an interview with the sniper, Roland has 15 years of experience behind him. Sándor Pomozi, the commander of the unit where he serves, said that it is good to know that they have a man like

Roland who can hit a ping-pong ball from 200 metres.

Here is a video of the changing of the guards at the Sándor Palace where the Hungarian president and his family live in the Buda Castle:

Mr Pomozi added that they needed a sniper not because President Áder is afraid of an assassination attempt but because he can notice errors nobody else would detect. When they prepare for an action, they analyse everything by studying the environment, many photos, and maps. It is crucial to know everything, even the exact location of a small bin.

  • Creations of Hungary – 6 weapons made by Hungarians

Routine can kill, so they check everything before President Áder arrives or departs. Roland said that he also took part in creating the sniper department of Hungary’s Counter-Terrorism Centre.

He took part in the protection of Presidents Bush, Putin, and Chancellor Merkel when they visited Hungary.

As we reported before, HM Arzenál Zrt., a company under the Hungarian Defence Ministry, announced last November that it would make Unique Alpine AG’s sniper rifles and hunting guns in its factory in Kiskunfélegyháza. Gáspár Maróth, the government commissioner for armed forces development, said before signing the relevant German-Hungarian industrial cooperation agreement that the Bavarian company would transfer not only the production facilities to Hungary but also its research and development units.

The HM Arzenál Zrt. and the Unique Alpine AG have been developing new weapons for more than a year. He added that

key players in the sector were already interested in the new products of the two companies.

Furthermore, the police, the prison services, the military, and the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary will also buy the new weapons made in Kiskunfélegyháza. Maróth stated that the investment could play a key role in the development of the Hungarian economy. The factory showed its newest TPG-3 sniper rifle made by Bavarian engineers and Hungarian developers for a Canadian tender and the AR–10 NX and AR–15 NX semi-automatic rifles allowing more accurate targeting than other products in their category.
