A sick baby who was taken from a German hospital without permission has been found safe in Hungary after police tracked the vehicle carrying the child and intercepted it on the M43 motorway.
German authorities issued a wanted notice after the infant was removed from the hospital. Hungarian police were alerted to the case and immediately passed the information to officers on patrol in Csongrád-Csanád County.

According to the Csongrád-Csanád County Police Headquarters, officers were able to determine the vehicle’s expected route by monitoring its movements.
The information enabled police to organise a rapid and coordinated intervention. Officers eventually stopped the vehicle at a rest area on the M43 motorway in southern Hungary. The circumstances surrounding why the baby was taken from the German hospital have not been disclosed.

Baby taken to hospital in stable condition
Police said the infant was found in a stable condition. With the assistance of Hungary’s National Ambulance Service, the baby was taken to hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment. The officers involved in the operation are set to receive official recognition from the deputy national police chief responsible for policing.
The Hungarian police described the operation as a race against time to protect a vulnerable child. Thanks to the swift intervention, the baby was brought to safety.
