Half a kilometre of human remains
An eyewitness told RTL Híradó that the man came from the nearby Annahegy rest area. Several tourist buses stopped here, and the elderly man must have got off one of them and then headed for the motorway. According to witnesses, the man realised he was in the wrong place and turned back, but it was too late.
Traffic was not stopped for an estimated 20 minutes after the accident. The man was run over not only by the Mercedes that hit him, but also by another 20-30 or possibly 40 cars, and none of them stopped to help.
