Ecumenical Charity to distribute 1,000 tonnes of food aid in Afghanistan
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary’s Ecumenical Charity will distribute close to 1,000 tonnes of food aid to several thousand families in Afghanistan under its largest ever food donation programme, the charity said on Saturday.
The programme will be carried out with international cooperation and involve seven districts of the Balkh and Samangan provinces in the north, it said in a statement.
It is supported by the United Nations’ World Food scheme, it said.
The Ecumenical Charity’s food donation programme has so far benefitted 212,000 people.
The organisation has delivered over 4.4 billion forints (EUR 14.1m) worth of humanitarian and development aid to Afghanistan since 2001, it said.
