Hungarian police arrest sexual predator targeting underaged girls, raping victim – 18+

Police Arrest Sexual Predator

Unfortunately, it seems that the cases of non-consensual sexual intercourse have grown quite significantly in Hungary as in recent months, the police have closed quite a huge number of investigations, forwarding the documents to the prosecutor’s office. Compared to the news stories of recent years, the number of crimes in which the perpetrator raped its victims seems to be unusually high. And to make matters worse, on many occasions, those victims were underaged.

Just within two months, this has been the fourth criminal case involving rape that Daily News Hungary has reported. Back in February, a family father in Sárkeresztúr tried to rape his own 7-year-old daughter, Valentina, on the child’s name day (Valentine’s day), while two of his other children were in bed beside them. He even threatened his own children to not talk about the incident.

In March, the victim of another rapist was a pregnant woman. The attacker raped the pregnant woman in a field and was attempting to have intercourse with the victim for a second time when the pregnant woman was able to run away. The most recent case was closed this April when the stepfather of a Hungarian girl was arrested for raping his daughter for 5 years. The victim was so scarred that she could only tell the story four years after the incident.

The most recent criminal case was luckily uncovered much sooner, and it seems that the perpetrator could only hurt one victim before his intentions were found out. According to the Police, the crime was reported by one of the psychologists of the child welfare service in Pest county, back in March.

The report was about a 23-year-old man who have raped an underaged girl and was suspected of contacting more young girls.

The police were able to identify the man and arranged his arrest on the 19th of April. The 23-year-old Gergő F. was arrested in one of his non-permanent accommodations in Budapest. The authorities say that the man is originally from Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. Naturally, during his arrest, he denied the accusations but ended up contradicting himself before he eventually confessed to raping an underaged girl.

The investigation later found out that the man can be considered a sexual predator and was in touch with several underaged girls via an online application. He met his rape victim online

as well and the perpetrator gradually got close to the unsuspecting girl. They exchanged nude photos and the predator used this to gain leverage on his victim. The man told the girl that if she does not have sex with him, then he will show her parents the nude images of her.

The girl got so scared that she agreed the perpetrator and met him in an abandoned forest near Gyál on the 14th of March. “Then the 23-year-old man – despite the continuous protest of girl – raped her”.

When the man was arrested, the authorities have found several contacts of other underaged girls on his phone as well as nude photos of other girls. According to the sexual predator, he did not meet with the other girls, but the investigation has not been fully concluded yet. The Pest County Police Headquarters have arrested Gergő F. under well-founded suspicion of sexual coercion.

Hungarian man had been raping his own daughter for 5 years – 18+

children violence

A Hungarian man had been raping his own stepdaughter for five years when the girl was a minor, without the mother even noticing. The victim was only ten years old when her father first started to target her. The girl was so scarred she could only tell someone at her school years later.

According to the Police, this unspeakable crime was uncovered in 2018, years after the crime was committed, when the victim told her school psychiatrist about her abusive stepfather and how she had to endure him molesting her for five years between 2009 and 2014. Origo reported that the stepfather named Ferenc N. started to target his stepdaughter when she was only ten.

At first, the man was cautious and “only” kissed her on the lips and lightly touched the defenceless young girl, but it soon turned into rape. The man had been forcing his stepdaughter to have intercourse with him in the man’s car or at home.

The girl was so scared she could not even resist the man, and even if she tried to refuse, her stepfather would punish her. He did not really use physical punishment but instead more usual or less evident forms of punishment like not allowing the girl to meet her friends, use her phone, or watch TV.

While the man was raping his own stepdaughter, his wife had been pregnant with their second child. The mother did not know any of this at the time.

After the victim had confessed to her school psychiatrist, her confession was examined by forensic psychologists several times, and they found that the girl had developed serious sexual trauma, self-hate, and she had blamed herself for the abuse, Index said.

The mother was shocked to know why her daughter had been turning to herself. She had not seen any signs when the abuse was going on and have not seen any major changes or telling signs since then either, as her daughter was already an introvert.

Even though the daughter had confessed in 2018, the stepfather could not be arrested until May 2020, despite there being an international arrest warrant issued for Ferenc N.

The authorities managed to arrest the man when he returned to his new family with whom he had two minor children. The man, now 44, has been in detention since May 14, 2020.

The investigation has been closed by the Pest County Police Headquarters and the documents have been given to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Killer stabbed victim in the eye with a screwdriver on Budapest’s streets

stabbing on railways

It seems like people are getting more and more angry, abusive and violent towards each other. We report more and more brutal crimes. Is it because of the pandemic? Maybe it is frustrating to people, and they end up committing violent crimes against other people. Maybe there is something else behind it.

Recently we have reported a case where a man assaulted and raped a pregnant woman twice. In another recent criminal case, two friends could not decide who to buy drinks, so one of them stabbed the other, but the most chilling and violent crime happened last week when an attacker stabbed a woman to death in the COVID department of a Budapest hospital.

The case you are about to hear is also very unfortunate and shows people’s plain brutality towards each other, and the fact that people are not always safe on the streets. Back in 2019, the Budapest police received a report of a conflict on the streets of Kőbánya at a tram stop. According to 24, three men were drinking together, and they might have had one too many drinks. From the three men, two were siblings. They all started to quarrel with each other when a punch was thrown, and things escalated quickly.

The perpetrator ended up stabbing one of the man in the eye with a screwdriver. The perpetrator fled, but the police acted quickly and arrested the man.

In a more recent and detailed report by 24, it becomes evident that the third man started to talk and act more and more aggressively towards the other men and one of the siblings tried to calm him down. The aggressive man immediately punched him in the face. This can be seen in the video when the man stumbles onto the tram tracks.

The conflict continued off-camera, and the aggressive man pulled out a screwdriver and hit the older sibling in the head with the tool’s handle. When the younger sibling arrived to help defend his brother, he managed to punch the perpetrator, who sprang back up and forcefully stabbed the younger sibling in the eye with the screwdriver.

The victim immediately lost consciousness and could not regain it. The stab blinded him, but he also suffered severe injuries in his brain. Unfortunately, he did not recover and died a few weeks after the incident.

The police have arrested the perpetrator shortly after the incident had been reported. Bettina Bagoly, the spokeswoman of the Prosecutor’s Office in Budapest, said to 24 that the perpetrator had been charged with murder and altercation and the Prosecutor’s Office requested a custodial sentence for his crimes. The suspect denied his crimes and asked for legal protection.

Did you buy a used car in Hungary? – Its mileage meter might have been rewound

Car Autó Kocsi Mechanic Szerelő Illegal

Winding back the mileage meter or odometer seems to be a huge problem in Hungary. People try to make their used cars appear much younger or in a much better condition so that they can sell it for a higher price. The problem comes when the unsuspecting new owner takes the car to the MOT test or technical examination.

Since 2018, conducting an MOT test has been solely the task of private garages or workshops, but the government’s regulation is unclear on what the workshop has to do with a car on which the mileage meter has been wound back. It seems that almost everyone does it differently, and it has become somewhat normal for some to cheat in order to pass the MOT test; some even told the owner to wind the meter forward so that it shows more than during the previous roadworthiness test.

It is not worth winding it back less than 100,000 kilometres

According to Szabadeurópa, the case they heard about happened to have a 371,000-kilometre odometer wound back to just 281,000. A car mechanic told Szabadeurópa that, usually, if people wind the odometer back, they do it by 100-150,000 kilometres. “It is not worth touching the mileage meter under that in many cases,” he said.

When the owner in this particular case arrived at the workshop, they told him that they will not let the car pass the MOT. They then told the owner of two ways he could “fix” the problem. The mechanic said that either the owner could wind the odometer forward to correct the fraud or he could get a receipt from a scrapyard for a new odometer as if it needed to be replaced due to error. When the editorial office of Szabadeurópa called the same workshop, the owner said that they simply do not conduct the MOT for a car that has its odometer tinkered with, but the regulation does not state what is the necessary procedure in such cases.

According to the Hungarian Penal Code, a person who falsifies the data of the mileage meter of a car can be imprisoned for up to a year.

Can the test be conducted?

The 2018 regulation does not state directly that a car with a falsified mileage meter cannot undergo the MOT test; what is more, not even a spotless pedigree is criteria: the car could pass the test even with a tinkered odometer, although some things are unclear within the regulation. According to the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the standard procedure is to treat this situation as if the car did not pass the test. In this case, the owner gets two months to perform repairs before a mandatory second MOT. The issue is that the odometer’s problem can only be solved by tinkering with it again or by unofficially replacing it.

I let it pass but with a warning

One of the inspectors told Szabadeurópa that they let such a car pass, but they write a note on the examination sheet about it. It seems like many mechanics do this, as the statistics of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology show that in 2018, there were 32, in 2019, there were 176, and last year, there were 221 such notes in the system.

The system is the Jármű Szolgáltatási Platform (Vehicle Service Platform) or JSZP. In this database, people can look up the history of a car by their license plate number as far back as 2012, as recording the mileage meter has been mandatory since then. Its main benefit is that almost anyone can search for the history of the car they would like to purchase, even getting access to pictures taken during MOT tests. The major flaw of the system is that regarding test stations, mileages less than the previous data can be easily typed in and the system does not send a warning, there is also no data before 2012, and cars brought in from foreign countries are hard to track because their odometer is usually wound back before entering Hungary.

The Hungarian government recently announced the renovation of 1,000 kilometres of roads in 2021. To read more about that, you can click HERE, and if you would like to know more about the new Hungarian developed smart parking system in China, read THIS article.

The whole system seems to be corrupt

It seems like the Hungarian MOT or roadworthiness system is quite corrupt, says Szabadeurópa. Last year, there were 1.58 million tests conducted. Despite the fact that the average age of Hungarian cars is close to 15, the success rate of MOTs has been around 99.9% in recent years.

In 2010, more than 3,200 cars failed the test, but by 2018, this number fell drastically to only 790, which, considering how the overall number of conducted MOTs rose by 300,000, is quite surprising.

The problem might be rooted in the fact that since 2018, only private workshops can conduct the test, which can give way to illegal solutions and deals. Often, workshops would offer to replace the problematic parts, or some would simply make the car pass the test for a bit of money on the side. Nonetheless, corruption seems to have crept into national test stations as last year, the Hungarian Public Prosecutor’s Office closed the country’s largest national test stations due to investigation.

The investigators found that the station was working together with the criminal underworld, and they confiscated HUF 250 million (€694,000) worth of property. The case involved a dozen employees and several officials.

Hungarian organisation transporting prostitutes to the UK finally held accountable

The Attorney General’s Office of Békés County prosecuted seven people being part of a crime organisation through which they committed human trafficking, procuring and prostitution. They acquired 40 million forints (more than 100 thousand euros) between 2011 and 2017 by exploiting 26 women in the United Kingdom.

It has only been a couple of days since we reported a successful investigation of the Hungarian Police against a crime group selling prostitutes to Germany. It seems like another European country is also a popular destination in the industry.

The Attorney General’s Office wrote in a statement sent to MTI that three members of a family from Tarhos had moved to London around 2011/2012 to recruit women from Hungary for prostitution work through social media. They organised the girls’ trips, their lodging and their daily supplies.

One of the rooms of their rented apartment was used in the beginning for the mentioned sexual purposes. Later on, they rented several other apartments in London and other British cities, with the help of their friend from Békéscsaba, also living in the UK – writes 444.hu.

Leaders of the crime group, two men and a woman, kept on updating the girls’ profiles on the internet. Three of their accomplices worked as “receptionists”, answering calls, organising the venue and the price with the costumers.

Fifteen of the women forced to conduct sexual activities had decided to do so due to their hopeless living situation, meaning that in their cases, the group is charged with human trafficking on an entrepreneurial basis. In the case of 11 other women, the charges are: the promotion of procuring and prostitution as a business.

The victims gave half of their payments to their exploiters, who thus obtained an illegal income of at least 40 million forints (more than 100 thousand euros) on the course of 6 years.

The Attorney General of Békés County promotes the confiscation of their obtained wealth and imprisonment against the leaders of the group together with their accomplice renting the apartments. The indictment suggests suspended prison sentence for the “receptionists”.

The National Bureau of Investigation and the Metropolitan Police of London both contributed to the successful exploration of this case.

Eight people charged with forging Hungarian passports for foreigners

passport Hungary

The Budapest Prosecutor’s Office has charged eight people with forging Hungarian passports for 76 people from non-European Union countries.

Public Prosecutor Tibor Ibolya said the passports, which contained their owners’ photographs and fingerprints but the personal data of ethnic Hungarians with Hungarian citizenships, were made for Ukrainian, Russian, Belorussian and Albanian people.

The criminal organisation included two public servants working in offices issuing documents for Hungarians.

The case was investigated by the National Protective Service as it represented a significant security risk, Ibolya said.

One of the accused was charged with 49 counts of bribery.

Besides that, this person and seven others were charged with forgery and use of official documents and people smuggling.

The prosecutor’s office has requested prison sentences and fines for six of the accused.

The office also requested that the office employees be banned from their profession for good.

The office worker accused of bribery is facing five to ten years in prison, the statement said.

Opposition Momentum leader charged with assaulting police

fekete-győr andrás momentum

The Budapest prosecutor’s office has pressed charges against six suspects, including opposition Momentum leader András Fekete-Győr, for throwing bottles, smoke bombs and other objects at a police cordon during a demonstration in front of Parliament back in December 2018.

The suspects, also including Bendegúz Koppány Szarvas, a local representative of Momentum in Budapest, “prevented police from lawfully securing an institution … through violent conduct”, Imre Keresztes, the head of the Central Prosecutor’s Office of Investigations, told MTI on Tuesday.

The prosecutor has proposed the suspects should be handed suspended prison sentences in an expedited procedure, with the exception of one of them, who had earlier been charged with vandalism committed in a group.

That one suspect, whom Keresztes did not name, could face actual imprisonment.

Under Hungarian law, assaulting officials or law enforcement personnel is punishable by 1 to 5 years imprisonment.

Prosecution charges LMP’s Demeter

DEMETER lmp

The public prosecutor’s office on Tuesday charged opposition LMP lawmaker Márta Demeter with abusing her office.

Demeter is accused of using her parliamentary privilege last September to obtain confidential data on Hungarian army operations and publishing it on social media illegally, the investigations office of the public prosecutor said in a statement. Further, the information published contained falsehoods, it added.

Parliament lifted her immunity at the request of the public prosecutor.

Demeter then did not make a confession, the statement said.

Based on provisions of the new Criminal Code, if during preparatory hearings the accused admits to the crime she is charged with, a fine of 2,000,000 forints (EUR 6,600) applies, the statement said. Abuse of office by a lawmaker carries a sentence of up to three years’ imprisonment, it added.

In October 2018, Demeter submitted questions to the interior and defence ministers asking them why a minor named Flóra Orbán, whom Demeter had wrongly assumed to be the prime minister’s daughter, had been allowed to travel on an Airbus operated by the Hungarian army.
