Foreign journalists try to speak Hungarian – VIDEO

language Video

How would you do in a video like this? :)

A Hungarian journalist working at Euronews convinced her colleagues to try to pronounce some Hungarian words to see whether or not it is actually one of the hardest languages of the world. Well, you can guess the result… Hungarian is a tough language for sure! 😉

We have shared several videos that end similarly: people get mixed up in Hungarian syllables, strange letters and surprising compounds. However, we never gloat over these videos, we always find them lovely and appreciate that people make an effort to learn a bit of Hungarian.

Because learning a foreign language is never easy… especially if it is Hungarian!

Some of our favourite videos include Italian students, Hollywood stars and enthusiastic travellers trying to speak Hungarian. But the following video about Euronews journalists is just as lovely as the previous ones 🙂

They start with everyone’s favourite: egészségedre (Cheers!/ Bless you!). We can see how shocking this word can be at first glance. Then, they go on with koktélcseresznye (maraschino cherries), nyugdíjfolyósítás (pension payment). They finish with a tough tongue-twister: “Mit sütsz kis szűcs, tán sós húst sütsz kis szűcs” (What are you cooking, little furrier? Are you cooking salty meat, little furrier?) It is even tough to pronounce for Hungarians…
